Mouse and Events

You can best work with Emacs if you own a three-button mouse. These buttons have been named from left to right in the order of appearance: mouse-1, mouse-2, mouse-3, and sometimes even mouse-4, if you have a four-button mouse. What if you have only two buttons? Well, the missing mouse-3 is emulated by pressing mouse-1 and mouse-2 simultaneously. You have to practice this for some time to do it smoothly. Take your time and adjust your mouse software as needed if the simultaneous keypress timing is not suitable for you.

Note - In XEmacs the mouse events have different names, for example, Emacs mouse-1 event is labeled button1up in XEmacs. Refer to XEmacs documentation for more complete description of the mouse event names.
